Pride Run Beneficiary Nominees
The nominees for the 2012 Pride Run have been revealed. We have three submissions from some worthy groups.
- Bay Area Rainbow Symphony (BARS) provides a safe and supportive environment for musicians of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. BARS makes cultural, social, and educational contributions to the San Francisco Bay Area by performing ambitious repertoire.
- Out in the Bay is an independent, non-profit production that interviews community leaders, newsmakers, authors, artists and interesting personalities. Entertaining, informative, inspiring, educational, “Out In The Bay” is the sound of our culture — our lives, our voices.
- Jewish Family & Children’s Services of East Bay became involved in resettlement efforts in 1934, as the first German Jewish refugees arrived in the East Bay. After World War II, those efforts intensified as thousands of Jewish refugees came to the United States. Their resettlement expertise was put to use again in the 1980s as large numbers of Russian Jews fled anti-Semitism in the former Soviet Union and now has expanded to take gay refugees from harm in countries where they are persecuted.
Members representing these groups will give 1 minute speeches supporting their organization during this upcoming bagel brunch on Saturday, January 14. Voting will commence via Survey Monkey later that day and will run through February 9th. We will announce the results on the blog as well as second circle on Saturday, February 11th.
Sincerely yours,
Dominic Paris
